On August 28, 24-year-old Palm Bay resident Marlon Mascoe entered New York Hair Barbershop while other customers were being serviced. Mascoe then allegedly pointed a firearm at several people, according to Melbourne Police. The owner of New York Hair Barbershop allegedly shot Mascoe in the hip and apprehended him until Melbourne Police arrived at the barbershop. Mascoe has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. Melbourne Police Lieutenant Ryan Schorer spoke to Florida Today regarding the shooting....

Orlando Lopez, 43, of Palm Coast, Florida, is accused of a string of drug offenses after he was pulled over by deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 95 on June 28. During the traffic stop, officers allegedly found 98 grams of cocaine and 35 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Lopez was subsequently charged with two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, two counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a scheduled II controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia....

James R. Stote, 55, and Phillip J. Augustin, 52, reportedly conspired to receive COVID-19-related small business loans using fraudulent loan applications, according to DOJ documents. After starting with Augustin’s personal company, Clear Vision Music Group, both Stote and Augustin “immediately began working to obtain larger PPP loans for themselves and their associates,” the DOJ said. In total, the pair submitted at least 79 fraudulent loan applications that were worth at least $35 million, and had reportedly planned to submit more before being caught....

Law enforcement was called to the scene on the evening of July 4 after the body was found in the retention pond behind the Landing Bar and Grill in Valrico, roughly 20 miles from Tampa. An underwater recovery team working with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was able to recover the body, according to a press release. Family members of the deceased identified her as 29-year-old Shayla Silva. They said she often swam in the pond and they are “in grief” over her death, but did not want to comment further....
