The former France international left the Gunners in 2008 having won one trophy during his four seasons at the club, the 2004-05 FA Cup.
Flamini helped AC Milan to the Serie A title in 2010-11 before leaving Italy to rejoin Arsenal on a three-year deal in the summer.
The 29-year-old has played a key role in Arsenal’s run to the top of the Premier League, much to the delight of fans who bet on football. He has made 10 appearances in all and has proved a perfect foil for the likes of Mesut Özil.
Flamini is determined to ensure Wenger’s side maintain their advantage over the rest and help end their long trophy drought.
As well as setting the pace domestically, the Gunners are enjoying an excellent season in the Champions League, despite their long odds for the title in the football betting. They lead the ‘group of death’, knowing victory over Marseille next week could seal their place in the last 16.
Despite a string of impressive performances so far, Arsene Wenger is under no illusions about how difficult it will be to beat the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to the trophy.
“Most of the time it was a competition basically among the English teams,” said Wenger, who led Arsenal to the 2006 final.
“In the last few seasons it has become a lot more international, and it is much more difficult to win it nowadays than it was a few years ago.”
